Right now in Charlotte, homes are staying on the market for about 35 days. But with interest rates coming down, that’s likely to change, and homes will start moving faster again. Having your pre-approval ready to go makes you more competitive and shows sellers you’re serious.

Pro Tip: Make sure to know your budget up front. You don’t want to buy a home at the top of your price range only to realize later that, although you qualify, you aren’t comfortable with the monthly payments.


2. Overlooking Hidden Costs

Many first-time homebuyers focus only on the price tag of the home itself, forgetting that there are several additional costs involved in owning a home. While it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of the purchase, these extra costs can sneak up on you.
